Weltliche Feiertage : A Hindu festival celebrated basically in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state of India and some regions of Himachal Pradesh. It is called Hariyali or Rihyali in Kangra,Shimla and Sirmour regions of Himachal Pradesh. In Jubbal and Kinnaur of Himachal it is called Dakhrain. In Himachal people take their village deity to open place and sing and dance. It is celebrated thrice in year, the first two are during both the Navratis, Chaitra Navrati in the month of Chaitra and Sharad Navratri in the month of Ashwin.

The word raksha signifies protection, and bandhan is an association signifying an enduring sort of bond; and so, when a woman ties a rakhi around the waist of her brother, she signifies her loving attachment to him. He, likewise, recognizes the special bonds between them, and by extending his wrist forward, he in fact extends the hand of his protection over her.
